  • The highly involved process used to handcraft our shoes over 212 different steps means that we sometimes end up with styles with minor imperfections that don’t meet our exacting standards for quality. These shoes are considered Factory Seconds and offered to you at significant savings. The small aesthetic flaws of our Factory Seconds do not affect the fit, comfort and durability you expect from all our footwear. These are shoes, boots and sneakers that you can count on wearing for years to come.
  • The most common imperfections in our Factory Seconds are scuffs, scratches or color variations in the leather uppers that either occur naturally in the hides or happen during the manufacturing process. Other typical flaws include slightly misaligned stitching, superficial defects in the welt and shoes that are sent back from our stores in shopworn condition.

  • Factory Seconds can only be purchased from our website or in person at our two Shoe Bank outlet locations.

  • Every style sold as a Factory Second can be worn right out of the box. Depending on the surface flaws of the leather, you may want to polish the uppers to hide scratches or discoloration, but you will not need to make additional repairs before wearing them.

  • All Factory Seconds are sold as is. We are not able to inspect or photograph individual styles for you. If you’re not completely happy with your purchase, you can return it to us for a full refund minus a $25 restocking fee.

  • Many of our Factory Seconds can be sent back to us to be refurbished by our experts. If the shoe was originally designed to be recrafted, then the Factory Second version is also eligible for this service. If you want to know if a specific style can be recrafted, please refer to the product description for that style on our site or ask a sales associate in store.
